Every now and again its always nice to take a break from your reality and get into a good fantasy. But did you know that many great fantasy novels come as audio books downloads?

It’s true! You can get just about all your favorites from Tolkien to Asimov easily downloaded to your computer. Then you can transfer them to any media you want. Burn them to CD, upload them to your MP3 player, or keep them right on your computer so you can listen while you work.

Audio books are, in most cases the full versions, not the abridged type that leave you hanging. Some of them are audio recordings of actual plays as they’re being performed on stage, or television broadcasts with the original stars. Audios of novels are generally narrated by well known actors. So the listening is easy and the feeling put into them give you the full impact of emotion from a storyteller’s perspective.

So audio books bring the characters to life which makes those relating to fantasy a “fantastic” choice!

One popular fantasy audio book is the Chronicles of Narnia. Both children and adults alike have been mesmerized by the thrilling adventure. Another is The Lord of the Rings series where Tolkien’s characters come to life right before your ears.

Now a days children can get the audio versions and really get the intrigue and suspense behind the stories.

All the favorites we grew up with are available today. If Greek legend is your thing, there’s The Illiad and The Odyssey. If you’re into Americana, you have Huck Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

Everyone needs a good laugh once in a while. They say its good for your heart, brain, and respiratory system. He told me if I ever repeated it like that to someone else I didn’t know, I would get beaten up.

While we’re on the subject of Asian languages, did you know that many schools in the US are now teaching Japanese? That’s correct! So soon your child could be coming home spouting off Japanese to you. If you owned an audio book on Japanese, you could at least keep up with them and maybe even help them with their homework.

Of course, if you knew Japanese too, they couldn’t use it to convey those teen age secrets they often do behind your back.

Reminds me of my French speaking mother who used to talk about us kids to her friends in French so we didn’t know what she was saying. It made me pay more attention in French class and I did manage to learn enough to know when she was talking about me and what she was saying.

For the most part, many of them are rehashed ideas, simply way outdated, or out and out misleading. I did manage to find some of the best available though.
