Most people know they can go to their local book store and purchase audio books, but many aren’t aware they can get the same audio books, download versions, right from their computers. These downloaded versions can then be transfered to mp3 players, burned on CDs, and listened to on iTunes.
When you go to your local book store, you won’t always find huge selections of audio book titles to choose from. Often, you’ll only be able to select from the most popular titles. This makes it hard to find a specific book to add to your collection. But the wonderful thing about the Internet, however, is you can find just about anything you could ever want listed somewhere. So all the classics, public domain, and out of print books can be readily available on audio if you know where to look.
You’ll also find there are many audio book titles that you just can’t get anywhere but online. There are some great “how to” books on audio that are sold exclusively online. Some of these come as compilations, and present expert advice from several leading authorities on topics near and dear to your heart.
Another great feature of owning audio books downloaded to your computer is, you can transfer them to any device you can connect to your computer. This means you can have several copies of the same audio books that you can listen to on your computer while working or browsing, have another on your iPod or other MP3 player to listen to while you jog or shop, and have the same ones on CD or cassette tape for use in your car.
Once you download your audio books, you can do just about anything you want with them. This adds a flexibility that you can’t get when purchasing the “hard copy” versions.
One more thing . . .
Many of the classic books are stored on Google and are available in text version for free. If you have the audio books downloaded to your computer, you can look them up on Google, hit play, and follow along as the narrator reads. This is a perfect way to increase retention of the information.
